Wake and Worry

I wake and worry at 4:00 AM.

I didn't use to W&W. I use to sleep blissfully through the night without a care or worry. Now I suddenly wake at 4:00 with an urgent need to change the world, or at least my children's world. But there is really not much you can do at 4:00 AM is there?

So I make mental lists. I pray. I resolve to do things better, to say/do the perfect thing that will miraculously change everything. I think of possibilities. I distract myself by planning vacations, or gardens, or figuring out how much weight I can loose by Christmas. Sometimes I just get up and start the laundry. But mostly I just lay there and worry and try to fall asleep.

What time do you Wake and Worry?

I rarely W&W, my husband does enough of that for both of us.

I wake and worry at 3:00 AM because I am paranoid about home safety. I spend an hour every morning from 3-4 AM hearing people break into my house. Of course, it is all in my mind but it happens for at least a year every time I move to a new place.

I stay up and worry at 11 PM. When I should go to bed, instead I get online and research things that relate to my concerns for/about my children. I can spend anywhere from 30 min to 2 hours. I don't think it's very productive!

I am sorry about your W&W.

I S&W... happens before I go to bed. It's how I fall asleep.

P.S. Today I heard that "Babylon" song you were so insistent on finding during one of my visits to Idaho... do you remember that? You sang it to the guy in Best Buy or something and wanted to know who sang it and today I heart it on Pandora and was like "ROBIN!!"

Of course you have a special memory in my heart.

I'm so sorry Robin - you're such a good problem solver, why do you need a whole hour ?!?! I used to wake and worry and not sleep because of hurendous (sp?) nightmares -then...I got Ambien and the nightmares are gone and I am a much nicer mommy cause I get my 6 hours of sleep!

Kelsy - I remember that Babylon song now. David Gray. Did I really sing it to the best buy guy? Are you just making that up to tease me?

Hmmm...So I should hurry and send you an outline of my garden so you can start planning.

I stay up and worry and then read the blogs of people I don't know, which then makes me worry even more. I actually checked to make sure Ashley could not strangle herself on the cords to her blinds at 1 am.

I stay up and worry. Why is it things always intensify in the dark?

Lately my W&W times have been 1:00, 3:00, and 5:00 AM--basically every time I have to get up to go to the bathroom. Having a baby on the way makes me worry even more than I would normally!

Last night I woke and worried and thought of you. Did you get my ESP signals I was sending?

I think it gets better once school has been in session for a couple of weeks.

Oh, I am the master worrier, especially if I'm tired. I worry every night for about 15-20 minutes right when I turn off the lights and try to go to sleep. If I have to get up in the night to pee or something then I have to worry for a little while to go back to sleep. Sometimes I get up and make lists and such, but by morning, when I'm well rested I don't really see what all the worrying was about! Oh well.
