Boo!

Did you watch McCain's concession speech last night? It was great. I voted for McCain and I was proud of his campaign and his speech. But I was ashamed of the republican audience.

Did you hear the rednecks booing every time he mentioned Obama? Shame on them! Poor sports and rude too! Obama is our president now. Most of my fellow Americans voted for him. I didn't want him for the president, but I know enough to go over and shake his hand and say, "Congratulations. Let's work together to make America great!"

We teach this simple concept at Y-Ball games for 6 year olds. The teams meet on the court and losers and winners respectfully shake hands/highfive and say, "good game". Who are those country bumpkins that boo the winner? He won by a landslide, fair and square. The look on McCain's face when the people booed seemed to say, "Please, don't! We are better than that." He seemed embarrassed.

I am thrilled and proud that Americans would elect a black man. I was impressed at Obama's acceptance speech. I hope that he is everything he tells us. I hope that we have change for the good. I am willing to work with them to make that happen.

I respectfully say, "Good game."

A-Men! It made me embarrassed for all Republicans.

Well said. While I voted the other way, I am glad both sides reached out to each other. Both speeches were great, and I genuinely hope Obama lives up to what he said.

Very true. I just had that exact same conversation with some classmates. Obama does have some great speech writers, and I hope he will live up to what he said in the speech.

My dad taught me that you always respect and admire the office, if not the man holding it. It is good advice.

I am less concerned about the political leanings of the American President than I am about the American Congress.

I agree "Good Game." I felt the exxact same when I watched McCain's address. Come on people!! It is now time to back our new president. I hope he can live up to everything he has promised.

I echo your comments about getting behind Obama now that the elections are over. I pray he can take this country in a great direction. I thought McCain was very gracious but I am NEVER a fan of booing. Very class-less.

I think Obama will be a great president. I am interested to see what the first 100 days in office will be like.

I, too, was dismayed at the boo-ing. Such poor manners, such poor losers.

I hope the Republican party will take this for what it is: a wake-up call. The Republican candidates for president haven't been any good for a long time. We can do better!

good for you, Robin! I am actually a "former Republican" but I totally agree that people need to class up, grow up, and be respectful!

I watched the concession and acceptance speeches with my daughter. I told her that though I may not agree with him I will support our President elect. It was cool to watch history unfold.

Booing was bad form. I cringed.

Booing. Classy. I was mortified. Obama has a big job to do. I pray he gets down to buisness quick!

Yeah, some people don't know when to stop. This happens every year though that the other party wins. It happened 4 years ago when Kerry gave his concession speech, and 8 years ago when it was Gore who gave the speech. But I don't think it happened 12 years ago when Bob Dole conceded, though I could be wrong.

I just wish it never would happen in the first place, like at the town-hall meetings. At least republicans weren't crashing democrat gatherings, unlike what the democrats did to so many republican gatherings.

It also seems like you're far more likely to have a pro-republican sign stolen or vandalized (we did) than if you had a pro-democrat sign. That doesn't make me feel better, but it does show that all parties could use better sportsmanship.

I completely agree with you... although I don't agree with Obama, I'm going to back him since he's our new president.

That picture of him and McCain keeps making me laugh though... it looks like they're about to kiss.
